In Act One, Scene Two, Kuno and Em become online friends, 

matched by the Machine. 

When Em asks Kuno what he is interested in, Kuno's reply 

("I am interested in space") prompts Em to sing 

about the prevailing doctrine concerning space: 

"Space is Annihilated."
