Geoffrey Kidde, Composer

 

Geoffrey Kidde is an author, composer, flutist, electronic musician and music educator. His book, Learning Music Theory with Logic, Max, and Finale is forthcoming from Routledge in late 2019 He has composed two operas: The Machine Stops (2011) based on the short story by E. M. Forster, and Samburan (2007) based on the novel Victory by Joseph Conrad. His compositions include works for chorus, orchestra, chamber ensembles, and works for electronics alone or combined with instruments. He is currently Professor of Music at Manhattanville College, where he teaches music theory and music technology. He received his D.M.A. in music composition from Columbia University, and his M. Mus. from New England Conservatory.
